Especially for fans of meticulously trimmed green lawns. Are you a golf fanatic and do you love motorhomes? Indulge in this golf route that takes you through the most beautiful areas and countries in North-West Europe along seven different golf courses. This way, you will experience golf courses other than your familiar home course. Of course, you don't have to complete the whole route; visiting one or two courses can be just as enjoyable. Get your golf bag ready, because after reading this blog you will want to hit the road immediately.

1.  The Dutch, Spijk, Netherlands

The route starts in the Netherlands, at golf course The Dutch. But don't be fooled, because it feels as though you're in Scotland. And if you think so, the designer of this golf course has done an excellent job. It was created with a mission to bring the Scottish experience to the golf course. You will truly sense this atmosphere as you walk in the restaurant and settle into one of the comfortable leather armchairs.

Minicamping Felis Hoeve in Acquoy, Gelderland, Netherlands

Not very far from the golf course, you will find this cozy, medium-sized, mini-campsite, just about a 15-minute drive away. You'll lack for nothing here and reviews praise Felis Hoeve. The surrounding area is great for hiking, cycling and, according to the community, a visit to the glass museum in Leerdam is also highly recommended.

Note: this is an 18+ campsite, unfortunately not an option for families with young children.

2.  Bernardus Golf, Cromvoirt, Netherlands

A little further south, in the vicinity of Den Bosch, we will find the second golf course of the route. This challenging course was designed by none other than Kyle Philips, who also designed the world-famous golf courses Kingsbarns and The Grove. In 2023, it hosted the KLM open for the third time. So, it's definitely a course to proudly check off your list!

Minicamping de Stamhoeve, Biezenmortel, North Brabant, Netherlands

You can't quite see the campsite from the 18th hole, but it's just a 10-minute drive away. This charming campsite is within cycling distance of the Loonse and Drunense Dunes, where you can enjoy some of the most beautiful walks. A big plus according to the community is the clean and hotel-chic sanitary facilities. You can even plug in your television here if you like.

3.  Royal Antwerp Golf Club, Kapellen, Belgium

We head further south again, into Belgium to the oldest golf course of the country. This golf course dates back to1888! It is now one of the most beautiful wooded heathland courses in Europe. A charming course that offers plenty of challenges in every season, as you certainly don't want to end up among the trees.

Kalmthoutse Heide in Kalmthout, Flanders, Belgium

About 5 km further lies a beautiful motorhome stopover hidden among the woods. For a spot on the heath, you have to make some effort. You have to register with the municipality of Kalmthout, either by phone or e-mail. It's easily arranged and then you will have a beautiful place to stay. As coverage doesn't seem to be that good, it might be a good idea to download a good movie on Netflix beforehand, or bring a book.

4.  Royal Limburg Golf, Houthalen - Helchteren, Belgium

The second stop in Belgium is in Houthalen - Helchteren. It's a beautiful place to golf when the heath is in bloom around mid-August. During this time, a large part of the golf course is then surrounded by purple flowers, right in nature reserve Tenhaagdoornheide. But don't worry, this course can be played all year round thanks to its sandy soil.

Wandelparking Kelchterhoef, Houthalen, Flanders, Belgium

You can even walk back to your motorhome after a day of golf. In fact, the motorhome parking is just a 20-minute walk from the golf course. According to the community, the restaurant De Abdijhoeve is highly recommended! Prefer a picnic? There is a lovely picnic area. For dog lovers, this parking spot is also ideal, as there are two off-leash dog areas.

5.  Golf Club St. Leon-Rot, St. Leon-rot, Germany

Today, we head into Germany. In Sankt Leon-Rot, you'll will find a stunning course with many water features and, once again, it's an award-winning course. The club's president considers innovation and youth of paramount importance. The restaurant offers a fantastic menu. Once a month on Thursdays at 5:00 pm, there is a sunset & beats festival, which, of course, is a delightful way to end a day of golf.

WellMobilPark in Bad Schonborn, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Again, it is only a 10-minute drive to the motorhome stopover. You'll will park in a cozy circular layout on nice, practical and flat asphalt. About half of the spots offer a view of greenery. It's a perfect place if you are on a journey, but also definitely ideal for combining with a day of wellness. After all, the motorhome stopover is right next to the thermal baths!

6.  Wittelsbacher Golfclub Rohrenfeld-Neuburg, Neuburg an der Donau, Germany

For the penultimate golf course on the route, we stay in Germany, but head a bit further south. As one of the best golf courses in Germany, with its stately clubhouse, this is a course to savour, both literally and figuratively. In the restaurant you can enjoy classic dishes like a good schnitzel or a Bavarian sausage salad.

Note: there are quite a few tournaments scheduled, so plan accordingly!

Schlösselwiese P1, Neuburg an der Donau, Germany

Depending on your route, it's about a 10-20-minute drive to the motorhome stopover. Once there, you'll be right by the Danube. Set up your chairs and enjoy watching boats or walk across the bridge into the old town. The latter is highly recommended according to the community. Visit the Neuburg castle or the city museum. There is plenty of culture to soak up. And don't forget to score a pretzel at the konditorei!

7.  Golf Eichenheim, Kitzbühel, Austria

The golf route ends in Austria and it might remind you of the 2nd stop in the route. In fact, this course was also designed by Kyle Phillips. Set against the backdrop of the Kitzbützel Alps, this is a whole different experience, with an average score of 8.8 on Leading Courses. Surrounded by stunning mountains, it does mean that you can't play year-round golf here. The course is open from May to October.

Camping Michelnhof, St Johann, Tyrol, Austria

Within walking distance from St Johann, and just a 20-minute drive from the golf course, you'll find this picturesque farm campsite. The sanitary facilities are perfectly clean and there is even a special dog shower. A walk to Sint Johann is definitely recommended, and from there you can also easily take a gondola to the top for a nice hike. If that's not exciting enough, there's a climbing forest where you can have a lot of fun. An ideal operating base for a few pleasant and active days.
