Steep cliffs, colorful houses, winding coastal roads and views of an endless blue sea: the Amalfi Coast is a dream route for motorhomers. You drive past dramatic cliffs, stop wherever you like and combine beaches, culture and la dolce vita. And that is exactly what makes this region so perfect for a motorhome trip: the freedom to go wherever you want.
We will take you to five places that are perfect for a motorhome trip, with great places to stay that you can find in the Campercontact app or on our website. From Positano to Sorrento: this is the Amalfi Coast as it's meant to be experienced.
With its steep streets, cliff-hugging houses and views over the deep blue sea, Positano is the most iconic village on the Amalfi Coast. Cobbled stairways lead you past boutiques, galleries and bars with a view. At the end of the descent you will find Spiaggia Grande: Positano's lively main beach, where you can relax in the sun between fishing boats and designer sunglasses. For a quieter spot, take a walk to the smaller Fornillo beach.

In Tramonti, you'll discover the more rural side of the Amalfi Coast. This region is located a little higher up, which means cool evenings, fresh air and far fewer tourists. Perfect for a walk along old mule tracks, wine tasting at a local farm or a peaceful afternoon among the fruit trees. From here, you can easily take a day trip to Minori, Maiori or Ravello.
A peaceful motorhome site overlooking the Hills of Tramonti.
Ravello is located 365 metres above sea level and offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the coast. The village exudes tranquillity, culture and elegance. Visit the famous gardens of Villa Rufolo or Villa Cimbrone, where marble statues and seas of flowers frame sweeping views of the Mediterranean. In summer, classical music fills the air from the open-air stage of the Ravello Festival. This is a place to unwind and escape from daily stress.

Amalfi is the beating heart of the coast and was once a great maritime power. Today, it is a charming town full of history, culture and activity. Visit the impressive cathedral of Sant'Andrea on the central square, sample lemon specialities in one of the many shops and stroll along the waterfront to the old paper mills in the Valle dei Mulini. Amalfi combines the best of southern Italy in one place: lively, historic and atmospheric.
A well-equipped campsite in the mountain village of Agerola, just above Amalfi.
Although Sorrento is officially located just outside the Amalfi Coast, it is a perfect addition to your itinerary. The town sits atop a cliff overlooking the Bay of Naples, with Mount Vesuvius as a dramatic backdrop. Wander through the old town, sample limoncello at a local distillery or spend an afternoon in the shade of the trees in the Chiostro di San Francesco. From the harbor, you can also take a boat trip to Capri or Naples.
